Poetry Friday: Art

The photo’s not mine, but the experience in the poem is.

I was more than a bit intimidated by the Poetry Sisters’ challenge to write a Terzanelle this month, but I listed the rhyme/repetition scheme down the side of a page in my notebook, held in my mind the memory of the swifts circling in the dusk over the Dayton Art Institute, and wrote that first line. What a surprise the ending was when I got there!

Here’s what the rest of the Poetry Sisters came up with:

Laura @ Laura Purdie Salas
Liz @ Liz Garton Scanlon
Sara @ Read Write Believe
Tanita @ {fiction, instead of lies}
Tricia @ The Miss Rumphius Effect

Jone has the Poetry Friday roundup this week at Jone Rush MacCulloch. She invited us to write odes this week, and if you stretch it, I’ll call mine an ode to the art found in nature.
