Poetry Friday: An Unpopular Opinion

Since we are not your typical “Go Bucks!” people, we will be enjoying a quiet city tomorrow evening while everyone else is glued to their TV sets for OSU vs. TX.

It will be perfect for reading through the Poetry Friday Roundup, which Linda is hosting at TeacherDance.

  1. I am laughing, Mary Lee, & wish you so much fun on those quiet streets as you’re NOT watching football! It’s a challenge to NOT be what so many are convinced you are, applying to quite a bit in our lives! Happy ‘quiet’ weekend!

  2. “When your apathy’s not a shortfall” I love how the lines repeat and change and rotate around this idea of quiet streets while everyone is watching the game.

  3. This poem makes me appreciate putting words I consider sad or lonely up against being happy. I love that! It’s fun and and oh, so true. I’m not a football girl at all.

  4. Mary Lee, I can relate to your poem – we don’t watch much football, nor are we anything close to Green Bay Fans, even though we’ve lived in Wisconsin for 25 years. We do try to get to the stores when football is on – it is definitely quieter. Thanks for putting into words what many of us feel. Enjoy the fall!
