  2. A mimosa bloom sunrise – how perfect. Love how Billy Collins helps us take notice of such simple pleasures in the everyday routine of life. Nicely done (watercolor, too!)

  3. “sunrise the color of mimosa blooms” is my favorite line because I love mimosa blooms. Such a fascinating tree. And as a child I climbed my grandfather’s mimosa tree and made soup with the seed pods. None of that was in your poem, but I love how poetry can touch each reader a little differently.

  4. It feels as if Billy Collins and you could have a fun conversation, Mary Lee, about the foibles of having pets! I do love that you made us readers happy by the lovely sunrise description! I can’t see a sunrise anymore (unless I rise in the dark and walk a block or two) as I used to at my old home, and miss it. Ah “the color of mimosa blooms”. And, I, too, am glad for the “opposable thumbs”! : )

  5. Mary Lee, sunrise with the color of mimosa blooms is such a vivid image. I am a Billy Collins’ fan ever since a few decades ago, he presented at the NYSEC Conference. Your poem is delightful and full of nature in verse.
