Today (Thursday, April 16) I needed a break from the unrelenting frazzlement of the U.S. news cycle, so I popped over to Al Jazeera for headlines from Europe. It was quite refreshing.
Here are the rest of my poems from this week:
April 10 News Fatigue
April 11 National Poetry Month
April 12 You Are a Crew
April 13 Orban Concedes Defeat
April 14 President vs. Pope
April 15 War in the Middle East
I didn’t bother linking into the roundup last week because I knew I wouldn’t be able to comment. Here’s last week’s post/poems.
Heidi has something special planned for this week’s Poetry Friday roundup at my juicy little universe.
Your poem made me smile, especially the dolt part ☺️Bring on the 🦶 ⚽️! Thanks Mary Lee!

You are brave to write poems from the news. I try to look away as much as possible. Can’t avoid the orange dolt. Tricube on, Mary Lee!

I did the same thing last week. It’s good to be back from spring break…but oooof. It’s been a bit slow for me. Snaps to YOU for writing about the news. Yowsa! It’s a tough thing to focus on right now. I like watching Al Jezeera every once in a while.

Mary Lee, your Tricubes are a triumph! News reimagined with pithy incisive cut through. Topical truths. Love it.

I don’t alway comment on Substack but I am loving these daily entries. Taking on the news is quite a task and I understand the needed change of pace.

Mary Lee, I took a break from constant news. There is only so much I can take of the news and/or the egotistical “leader”.

So smart to check out a different news source, Mary Lee. Yay for fútbol! Or should I say, “¡Olé!” How nice not to see the orange dolt “doctor,” too.

Now I want to read all the news poems. Too bad the “orange dolt” couldn’t be limited to Tricube rants.

Mary Lee, my favorite this week was the President vs. Pope. So much truth! We are so lucky to have the Pope to stand up for reality of the Church at its essence, though not perfect, at least it challenges the nationalist BS that permeates our society these days. Thank you for sharing your poems with the world.
