Too. Much. Rain.
We had probably 1.5″ yesterday, and so far this morning 1.75″ with more forecast for today, tomorrow…all the way through to Friday, with a brief respite before it clouds up again on Monday for the eclipse.
“Lake Easement” has engulfed both back beds…
…but our neighbor has it worse.
Here’s my haiku for today:
aftermath
robin song signals respite
it won’t last
ⓒMary Lee Hahn, 2024
Mary Lee, I love the way the pictures show the scene. The irony of so much rain and how the simple haiku stomps out the dreary feel and promises through birdsong that it won’t last.

Your last line is an important message for us all. It’s raining here now and the forecast suggests I will be mopping soon. I will hold tight to your message.

I didn’t mean for that last line to be hopeful…the weather radar would say otherwise: the next cell of storms should be here in about an hour and a half.
But I like your reading. Our backyard lake has already shrunk by half, and though it might take a week, it really won’t last. All told, a little water in the back yard (none in the basement) seems like small beans compared to Everything Else In The World Right Now…

I’m sorry for the deluge. I hope your garden survives. These days it seems to be too much or too little.

Uh oh, enough already, Springtime. I think it is going to be heartbreaking for people traveling all over the country to the line of totality to find a lot of places covered in clouds, an eclipse that they will already be used to. Here’s to good days ahead, and that the water stays out of basements!

“it won’t last” seems so ominous and powerful.
Sorry you’ve gotten so much rain!

Ah, I remember moments where we all promised ourselves we would NEVER complain about rain… That was before it lost its off button. Hang in there!

Wishing you could send some our way! Hope it wasn’t too much worse when more arrived!
